Lee is also the CNMI\u2019s only finalist for the National Merit Scholarship award.<\/p>\n
The purpose of this program is to recognize and honor some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Each year, since 1964, up to 161 students are named as presidential scholars out of a pool of over 4,500 candidates. To be eligible, students must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent U.S. resident, have an exceptional SAT or ACT score, and be invited to apply. If selected as a scholar, students receive an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. in June and are presented the U.S. Presidential Scholars medallion at a ceremony sponsored by the White House. Scholars meet important national and international figures; discuss current national and international issues; attend recitals, receptions, and ceremonies held in their honor; and visit area museums and monuments.
