The Rotary Club of Saipan\u2019s signature annual fundraiser, Las Vegas Night, will finally take place in March, this time at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan. <\/p>\n
With Super Typhoon Yutu forcing the Rotary to move it from its original November 2018 schedule, Las Vegas Night will now take place on March 30, 2019. <\/p>\n
Saipan Rotary Club president Greg Borja noted that ticket selling for the event will resume today after a minor setback in their gambling permit application with the Department of Commerce.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are just trying to finalize our application in regards to the gambling permit at the Department of Commerce,\u201d said Borja. \u201cWe are missing only one application,\u201d <\/p>\n
The Rotary expected that missing application to be completed and submitted to the Office of the Attorney General yesterday afternoon, with ticket selling to follow today immediately.<\/p>\n
According to Borja, the prizes for the annual event includes a grand prize of either $10,000 or a 2019 Mazda car, $3,000 as second prize, $2,000 as third prize, $1,000 as fourth prize, and $500 for the fifth prize.<\/p>\n
The funds raised from the event would primarily go to the construction of a new playground at the Sugar King Park. The new playground, Borja said, would be handicap-accessible. He said the Rotary would need about $20,000 as seed money.<\/p>\n
The rest of the funds would be used for the youth exchange programs that the Saipan Rotary Club regularly hosts with Rotary clubs in Tokyo, Japan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
