The show will run on Thursday, Feb. 21, and Friday, Feb. 22, at Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret.

Inspired by Disney’s Moana, Tasi is an original story written by club adviser and school president, Galvin Deleon Guerrero. The story follows Tasi as she struggles between family expectations, traditions, and her own aspirations. The production will also feature music from and about the islands.

Tasi is being directed by Kalea Borja, who was the assistant director for 2017’s hit production of Disney’s Mulan Jr.

When asked why she stepped up to direct Tasi, Borja said she wanted to “present our local culture through it. I believe that we need to promote our local culture and embrace it, and surely Tasi is the play that can do just that!

“Just like our islands is #MarianasStrong in recovering from the typhoon, our cast and crew members have been Knight-strong in pushing through with the show,” she added.

In a scene from the Mount Carmel School Theatre Club production of Tasi, Kina Dela Cruz, right, as Tasi faces off with her father, Tano, center, played by John San Nicolas, and her aunt, Rastro, played by Kalyn Diaz.
