{"id":293983,"date":"2019-02-18T06:00:33","date_gmt":"2019-02-17T20:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=293983"},"modified":"2019-02-18T06:00:33","modified_gmt":"2019-02-17T20:00:33","slug":"garapan-school-okd-as-polling-site-in-special-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/garapan-school-okd-as-polling-site-in-special-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Garapan school OK\u2019d as polling site in special election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Public School System has already approved the Commonwealth Election Commission\u2019s request to designate the Garapan Elementary School as a polling site for the March special election, according to CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol yesterday. <\/p>\n<p>Igitol said they, however, are not sure whether the designated polling site at Garapan Elementary School is the cafeteria or a classroom.<\/p>\n<p>With respect to the other polling site, Igitol said they are still awaiting the reply of Education Commissioner Glenn Mu\u00f1a whether Oleai Elementary School is available.<\/p>\n<p>She said their request is to designate one classroom at Oleai since its cafeteria is still under renovation.<\/p>\n<p>CEC executive director Julita Villagomez earlier stated that they want to hold the March 23 special election at the Garapan and Oleai elementary schools\u2014the traditional polling places for Precinct 3 voters.<\/p>\n<p>Due to Super Typhoon Yutu\u2019s devastation last Oct. 24 and 25, the polling sites for Precinct 3 during the Nov. 13, 2018, general elections were moved to Garapan Central Park and at the Marianas Visitors Authority office in Oleai\/San Jose.<\/p>\n<p>As of last Jan. 28, there were 3,361 registered voters in Precinct 3.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres set the special election following the death of representative Francisco D.
