{"id":294222,"date":"2019-02-21T06:06:06","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T20:06:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=294222"},"modified":"2019-02-21T06:06:06","modified_gmt":"2019-02-20T20:06:06","slug":"deadline-to-apply-for-absentee-voting-is-feb-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/deadline-to-apply-for-absentee-voting-is-feb-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Deadline to apply for absentee voting is Feb. 26"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Julita Villagomez reminded Precinct 3 voters Tuesday that next Tuesday, Feb. 26, is the deadline to apply for absentee voting by electronic\/mail.<\/p>\n<p>Villagomez said they started accepting requests for absentee ballots last Jan. 23.<\/p>\n<p>As of last Jan. 28, Precinct 3 had 3,361 registered voters. <\/p>\n<p>In the Nov. 13 general election, Precinct 3 had 3,795 voters. Of that number, 2,867, including absentee voters, for a total of 75.54 percent, cast their votes.<\/p>\n<p>Villagomez also said yesterday that they are already printing 4,000 ballots for the March 23 special election.<\/p>\n<p>She said CEC will open on Saturday and Sunday when the early voting starts on March 16.<\/p>\n<p>There are four candidates\u2014former representative Donald Cabrera Barcinas of the Democratic Party, Marco Taisakan Peter of the CNMI Republican Party, and independents David Castro Sablan and Mariano DLG Fajardo.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ralph DLG Torres set the March 23 special election after the death of representative Francisco D.
