{"id":294238,"date":"2019-02-21T06:00:58","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T20:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=294238"},"modified":"2019-02-21T06:00:58","modified_gmt":"2019-02-20T20:00:58","slug":"guam-physician-to-hold-aspvd-clinic-at-chc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/guam-physician-to-hold-aspvd-clinic-at-chc\/","title":{"rendered":"Guam physician to hold ASPVD clinic at CHC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Jeffery Shay, a highly experienced interventional radiologist, will be conducting a clinic at the Commonwealth Health Center next Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019. <\/p>\n<p>Shay will provide consultation for patients at risk for or diagnosed with ASPVD, or Atherosclerotic Peripheral Vascular Disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strongly encourage you to refer patients with claudication, poorly healing wounds\/ulcerations, rest pain, and\/or lower extremity discoloration for evaluation,\u201d said the Guam Radiology Consultants in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strongly urge you to send any patients who have undergone an amputation in the past to determine if measures are needed to prevent additional amputation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLikewise, patients who are already scheduled for amputation can almost always benefit from treatment before or soon after surgery by increasing flow to the amputation site, allowing for improved healing and prevention of future amputations.\u00a0An appropriate work-up and, if needed, endovascular therapy will lead to a decrease in repeat amputations. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to help as many patients as possible.\u00a0All referrals are accepted.
