That was for a total of $200,000.

The remaining $100,000, according to Tan would be used for relief goods but plans have yet to be finalized.

“These 10 organizations represent a large part of our community, so we need to partner with them to help Super Typhoon Yutu victims,” Tan said.

The 10 chosen organizations included religious organizations, athletic organizations, non-profit organizations, and many other types. The variety, according to Tan, is in line with his company’s goal.

“We are trying to reach out to a large part of the community. …There are many organizations that we can identify and $20,000 is a meaningful amount for them to go out and do their work,” he said. “We can only choose 10, so those are the 10 we identified.”

As for the company’s plans for the remaining $100,000, Tan said, “We have some initial concepts and we are ready to finalize them shortly and then we will go out and [distribute] the relief goods…and that would conclude the entire $1 million.”

TanHoldings Corp. and TSL Foundation have pledged to donate $1 million to help with the CNMI’s recovery efforts from Super Typhoon Yutu.

The initial allocation of the donation included $200,000 to the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter, $300,000 to the Commonwealth Advocates for Relief Efforts, and $200,000 to CNMI Mass Care, which is a collection of relief programs and activities.

“We must not forget that recovery work is a long-term process because of the magnitude of [Super Typhoon Yutu]. We might be better off today, but definitely not everyone in the community is normal yet, so let us continue to help our friends and neighbors,” Tan said yesterday.

“This is my home, our home. When we are faced with…this level of devastation, I believe we all need to step up and help our neighbors and our friends,” he said in a previous interview with Saipan Tribune.

The allocation of a portion of the $1-million donation of TanHoldings Corp. and the Tan…

[4

post-294325","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
