Pangelinan and Associates LLC to revive the street numbering and mapping on Saipan.

Right now, the commission consists of the Saipan mayor, the Department of Public Works secretary, the Department of Public Safety commissioner, and the Department of Public Lands secretary, and is responsible for developing a Saipan street, name, and numbering map.

“This project will benefit a lot of people in the community,” said Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang yesterday in a press conference at the Saipan Mayor’s Office conference room, adding that it would be especially beneficial to emergency services and postal services personnel.

The project is expected to take about six to seven months and cost about $64,000.

The finished product, according to Saipan Mayor’s Office chief of staff Henry Hofschneider, would include GPS mapping, or global positioning system, a way to digitally access the map on the internet.

The numbering of lots as well as many other required information would require a lot of survey work. Because of that requirement, Apatang asks for the community’s patience and cooperation for any survey-work that may be done on private property.

“We are asking the public to please work with us if you see [Pangelinan’s] crew,” said Apatang, adding that the Saipan Mayor’s Office would be furnishing these personnel with special badges.

“We are now in the…street numbering [phase]. The time to do this is about six to seven months altogether,” said Henry Pangelinan, the owner of the engineering firm, at the press briefing. He said his team has already done the mapping for the project.

According to Pangelinan, the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation already approved the street names. Altogether, he said, the delegation already made 24 changes to the street names.

The Saipan Mayor’s Office announced yesterday that it would be working with an engineering firm…

[4

post-295016","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
