Torio, the MHS Glee Club bested 12 schools and won gold at the TBMF\u2019s choral festival that took place from Feb. 28 to March 1, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The club consists of 21 members, 13 of whom are girls and eight are boys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a variety of songs in our repertoire,\u201d Torio told Saipan Tribune. The group performed Rise Up by Andra Day as arranged by alumni Miguel Manual and Leonard Manuel, Ave Maria composed by Franz Biebl, Hallelujah as arranged by popular acapella group Pentatonix, and One Short Day from the Broadway musical Wicked with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and arranged by former director Paul Dujua.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinding out that we won gold in the choral festival was the most amazing feeling ever,\u201d Torio said, comparing it to a weight being lifted off their shoulders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I went up&#8230;to receive our plaque, I couldn\u2019t help but tear up a bit,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>MHS principal Cherlyn Cabrera said: \u201cWe are so proud of our students and it shows their hard work.
