Gov. Eloy S. Inos and Lt. Gov. Jude U. Hofschneider are pleased to announce the progress on the Tinian International Airport. Beginning March 27, 2014, the Commonwealth Ports Authority will solicit for bids on a contract for the Tinian International Airport, whose scope of work includes necessary improvements to the airport\u2019s arrival and departure terminals as well as its connecting corridor.
\n\u201cSince Gov. Inos and I came into office, we have pushed our Capital Improvement Projects Office to pursue these infrastructure projects,\u201d explained Hofschneider. \u201cUnfortunately, the improvements to the Tinian Airport have been long delayed, but I am glad that the project is now moving forward. I encourage CPA to complement this effort by also moving the other projects needed at the Tinian airport that aren\u2019t funded by CIP.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hofschneider also explained the significance of the Tinian airport. \u201cThe completion and opening of the Tinian International Airport is of extreme importance to the island of Tinian right now. Specifically, the airport is one of the key elements in Tinian\u2019s casino and tourism industries and brings us one step closer to our dream of having direct flights here. Already, the Dynasty\u2019s new investors are opening communication with major airlines to provide this service between Tinian and the whole of China. So, this is definitely a move in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n
Award of this contract will be made within 120 calendar days from the date of the bid opening, and the contract duration is 270 calendar days from the notice to proceed.\u00a0(Office of the Lt.
