{"id":295314,"date":"2019-03-12T06:06:12","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T20:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=295314"},"modified":"2019-03-12T06:06:12","modified_gmt":"2019-03-11T20:06:12","slug":"4-4-magnitude-earthquake-off-coast-of-guam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/4-4-magnitude-earthquake-off-coast-of-guam\/","title":{"rendered":"4.4-magnitude earthquake off coast of Guam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Guam over the weekend but no tsunami warnings were issued for Guam and neighboring Northern Marianas. <\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from the CNMI Homeland Security &amp; Emergency Management\u2019s Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, the 4.4-magnitude earthquake occurred at 9:40am last Sunday 27 miles north northwest of Guam at a depth of 116.7 mile<\/p>\n<p>Multiple earthquakes were seen last month off the coast of Pagan and Agrihan. <\/p>\n<p>Earthquakes are common in the Marianas archipelago because it part of the Pacific Ring of Fire where majority of the world\u2019s most active volcanoes are located. <\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 237-8000 or 664-8000.
