The Coast Guard statement did not identify the package but said it was not a threat.<\/p>\n<p>At 8:59am, Cmdr. Joshua Empen, acting commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam and Captain of the Port, established a safety zone enforcement of 500 yards in the vicinity of Agat Marina following report of a suspicious package at the marina.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_295389\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-295389\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-295389\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Joshua-Empen-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-295389\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Empen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the public and all responders.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service personnel were also on-scene with local and federal authorities to further investigate the nature of the equipment found. A Department of Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit assisted and confirmed the package was not a threat.<\/p>\n<p>Local law enforcement conducted additional sweeps of the harbor. The suspicious package will be turned over to the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, do not approach, touch, or move any suspicious package.
