{"id":295877,"date":"2019-03-21T06:00:11","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T20:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=295877"},"modified":"2019-03-21T06:00:11","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T20:00:11","slug":"hs-students-compete-in-uog-chemistry-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/hs-students-compete-in-uog-chemistry-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"HS students compete in UOG chemistry contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twenty-four students from six high schools competed in the 2019 University of Guam High School Chemistry Titration Competition hosted by the Chemistry Program of UOG\u2019s College of Natural &amp; Applied Sciences on March 12.<\/p>\n<p>The competition, held since 2009 on UOG\u2019s Charter Day, is an annual outreach event that tests students\u2019 skill and knowledge in the field of chemistry. The students were asked to determine the percentage of acid in an unknown sample using an analytical technique called titration.<\/p>\n<p>The participating schools were Father Duenas Memorial School, Academy of Our Lady of Guam, St. Paul Christian School, Harvest Christian Academy, St. John\u2019s School, and Okkodo High School.<\/p>\n<p>The top three winners in each competition were awarded $775 worth of gift certificates, donated by UOG\u2019s Office of the Senior Vice President.
