{"id":296276,"date":"2019-03-27T06:06:14","date_gmt":"2019-03-26T20:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=296276"},"modified":"2019-03-27T06:06:14","modified_gmt":"2019-03-26T20:06:14","slug":"man-pleads-not-guilty-to-6-traffic-criminal-violations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/man-pleads-not-guilty-to-6-traffic-criminal-violations\/","title":{"rendered":"Man pleads not guilty to 6 traffic, criminal violations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man pleaded not guilty to all six traffic and criminal violations charges against him last Monday, including allegedly causing a stolen vehicle to catch fire.<\/p>\n<p>Alii Jima Ichihara, 20, pleaded not guilty to the charges of theft of a vehicle, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, no operator\u2019s license, reckless driving, and criminal mischief.<\/p>\n<p>Ichihara was brought before the court last March 18 for an arraignment hearing.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, Ichihara entered his not guilty plea before Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja.<\/p>\n<p>Naraja scheduled a case management conference for Ichihara on April 13, 2019, before Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo.<\/p>\n<p>According to court information, Ichihara was issued a penal summons for multiple crimes he allegedly committed back on Feb. 5, 2019, when he allegedly stole the vehicle of Ashley Marie Taisacan without her consent.<\/p>\n<p>Ichihara was allegedly caught with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.1-percent or more while under the age of 21.<\/p>\n<p>Ichihara was also allegedly speeding, caught operating the stolen vehicle without a license, and was operating the stolen vehicle with disregard for the safety of people and surrounding property.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, Ichihara, on the same day, allegedly wrecked the vehicle and caused it to catch fire and, in the process, completely destroying it.
