{"id":296556,"date":"2019-04-01T06:04:25","date_gmt":"2019-03-31T20:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=296556"},"modified":"2019-04-01T06:04:25","modified_gmt":"2019-03-31T20:04:25","slug":"april-7-deadline-to-remove-campaign-materials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/april-7-deadline-to-remove-campaign-materials\/","title":{"rendered":"April 7 deadline to remove campaign materials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Election Commission is reminding all candidates in the March 23 special election that they have until April 7 to remove all campaign materials from public places. <\/p>\n<p>CEC executive director Julita Villagomez said yesterday that candidates and their supporters should start taking down their campaign materials.<\/p>\n<p>She added, though, that the rule on taking down campaign posters applies only to those on public lands.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Election Reform of 2000 law, each candidate who fails to remove campaign posters within the deadline may be fined $500.<\/p>\n<p>Most campaign signs have been taken down already.<\/p>\n<p>Villagomez said that May 12 is the deadline for the candidates\u2019 submission of campaign financial statement.<\/p>\n<p>Marco Taisakan Peter of the Republican Party won the special election by a landslide in a four-way race for Precinct 3\u2019s vacant seat in the House  of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Former representative Donald Cabrera Barcinas of the Democratic Party came second. Independents David Castro Sablan and Mariano Deleon Guerrero Fajardo landed third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The special election was held following the death of representative Francisco D.
