Over 240 people flocked to the Mt. Carmel Cathedral\u2019s Joeten Daidai Social Hall last week during a Lions Club\u2019s annual health fair.<\/p>\n

A total of 249 people registered to avail of free medical services offered by the Lions Club International District 204, Region 2 at its annual health fair in Susupe last March 31, 2019.<\/p>\n

The medical services included blood pressure check, sugar\/glucose testing, vision check, diabetes awareness, cancer awareness, oral cancer screening, distribution of reading glasses, and general health awareness that will improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n

For the first time, the club also offered free haircuts after the health screenings; the Lions Club said 78 participants availed of this service, manned by barbers sent by Jigz Barbershop, Genoveva\u2019s Hair Power, Trends Beauty Salon, Magic Touch, and Be.YOU.tiful Salon.<\/p>\n

Health service providers included Hardt Eye Clinic and Diabetes Education Center, Northern Marianas College Nursing Club, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Immunization program, Non-Communicable Disease Bureau, Commonwealth Cancer Association, and the Division of Public Health Services Dental Clinic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am grateful to our fellow Lions and Leos for their untiring support,\u201d said Lions Club Region 2 chair Annamae Adaza. \u201cRight now we have three Leo clubs\u2014Saipan Teen Unity Leo Club, Saipan Marianas Alpha Leo Club, and Saipan Mighty Dolphins Leo Club, as they are the future Lions. Each Lions clubs can create their own projects [at the] club level in which we focus on five service challenges: the youth, environment, vision, hunger and diabetes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Region 2 is composed of six clubs on Saipan: Saipan Fil-Am Lion\u2019s Club, Saipan Unity Lion\u2019s Club, Saipan Marianas Lion\u2019s Club, Saipan Alliance Lion\u2019s Club, Saipan Natibu Lion\u2019s Club, and Saipan Centennial Lions Club. <\/p>\n
