(Erwin Encinares)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Most Commonwealth artists participated in this year\u2019s edition of one of the longest-running festivals in the Micronesia, the Flame Tree Arts Festival, over the weekend, according to the Commonwealth Council of Arts and Culture<\/p>\n<p>CCAC executive director Parker Yobei noted that this year\u2019s 38th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival at the Civic Center Park in Susupe had the highest number of artists participating that he has ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s the fee that we waived\u2026or if they are getting active and getting back into their art,\u201d he said. \u201cI hope that they come back and continue [their art production], not only for the Flame Tree festivals but for our other events within the year with our schools and the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In all, Yobei recalls about 65 to 70 artists participating in this year\u2019s festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome came in late, a couple pulled out, but somebody took their place,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery slot this year was filled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of those who pulled out did not have enough pieces to exhibit in the festival. \u201cHopefully we\u2019ll get everyone to join the festival next year,\u201d Yobei said. <\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s festival was dedicated to eight artists who have passed away since last year\u2019s Flame Tree Arts Festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are definitely going to miss their presence and their talent. I\u2019ve known some of them and\u2026worked with some of them,\u201d Yobei said.
