SSHS progress reports out today<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saipan Southern High School will be issuing its students\u2019 progress reports today, April 25, 2019 from 4pm to 5:30pm. Come by the school to pick up the progress reports in your child’s classrooms. (PR)<\/p>\n

Community planting and cleanup at WSR school<\/strong><\/p>\n

In celebration of Environment Month and Earth Day, volunteers are invited to help plant trees and flowers at the Willim S. Reyes Elementary School in Chalan Kanoa this Saturday, April 27, from 8am to 10:30am. <\/p>\n

There will also be a cleanup of litter on and around the school campus. <\/p>\n

The event is hosted by Precinct 2 Reps. Christina Sablan and John Paul Sablan, in collaboration with WSR Elementary School, Division of Forestry, Northern Mariana Islands Cooperative Research and Educational Extension Services, and Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance. <\/p>\n

JKPL parking lot closed Friday, Saturday<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to accommodate and prepare for the 2nd Annual Community Mobile Information Literacy Fair, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library\u2019s parking lot will be closed this Friday, April 26, 2019, and Saturday, April 27, 2019. <\/p>\n

SCC membership meeting on May 1<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce\u2019s general membership meeting in May will be held on Wednesday, May 1,\u00a0at Charley\u2019s Cabaret of Pacific Islands Club Saipan. <\/p>\n

The speakers are acting Finance secretary David Atalig, who will speak about his vision and plans for the CNMI Department of Finance, and Northern Marianas Humanities Council\u00a0program officer Farah Younis\u00a0to speak about the council\u2019s upcoming initiatives.<\/p>\n

The luncheon begins at 11:30pm with the meeting portion starting promptly at noon. Tickets are $25 for Chamber members\/$35 for non-members. UOG forum today on sexual misconduct <\/strong><\/p>\n

The SW480 Family Violence class of the Social Work degree program at the University of Guam will be hosting a public forum today, April 25, about ending sexual misconduct on college campuses.<\/p>\n

The free forum will take place from 6pm to 7:30pm, at the CLASS Lecture Hall of the University of Guam campus.<\/p>\n

One in five women in college experience sexual assault, according to the Office on Women\u2019s Health under the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.<\/p>\n

The forum will bring the subject to light with real testimonies from former students who have had first-hand experiences with sexual assault and the presentation of data from a statistics expert on sexual misconduct from seven Micronesian campuses.\u00a0Faculty who are actively involved in developing interventions to address campus sexual misconduct will also speak. JKPL book talk: Marie Castro <\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of National Library Month activities, join the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library tomorrow, April 26, 2019, from 5pm to 6pm in the Children\u2019s Library to hear a book talk by CNMI author Marie Castro. <\/p>\n

Castro will be discussing the books Without a Penny in My Pocket: Bittersweet Memories Before and After WWI by Marie S.C. Castro and Marie Castro: My Life and Amelia Earhart’s Saipan Legacy by Mike Campbell and Marie S.C. Castro, and talk to the community about the process behind writing her books. (PR)<\/p>\n

Calling Class of 1981 high school graduates<\/strong><\/p>\n

To all 1981 graduate(s) of Marianas High School, Dolphins 81, and off-island graduates in Guam or the U.S. mainland, there will be a class reunion meeting on April 25, 2019, starting at 6pm at Tech-NIC Computer Gaming, above Sherwin Williams across Bank of Hawaii on Middle Road. (PR)<\/p>\n

USCIS to present naturalization information session in Guam in May<\/strong><\/p>\n

Officials from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will present a free information session\u00a0to the public about citizenship and the naturalization process in Guam on May 14,\u00a0from 1pm to 3:30pm, at the Hagatna branch of the Guam Public Library.<\/p>\n

USCIS will provide information about eligibility for citizenship, how to apply online, the English and civics tests, application forms and fees and how to best interact with USCIS about individual cases. Officials will also discuss ways to avoid becoming a victim of immigration scams and provide agency updates. Free educational materials will be given out, while supplies last.\u00a0(PR)<\/p>\n

Tax refunds mailed <\/strong><\/p>\n

HAGATNA, Guam\u2014The Department of Revenue & Taxation and Department of Administration have mailed 308 tax refund checks totaling $748,730 for error-free returns filed on or before Dec. 31, 2018.<\/p>\n
