Chocolate Rabbits Lay Eggs Not Runny<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For when ladies wore colorful hats to church on Easter Sunday and\u00a0called them Easter bonnets, straw baskets were filled with\u00a0decorated and colored hard-boiled eggs, yellow marshmallow\u00a0baby chicks, jelly bean eggs, and a chocolate rabbit. A sonnet on it.<\/p>\n<p>Chocolate rabbits covered with colored foil<br \/>\nwhat are those pastel things under their legs?<br \/>\nthe results of pots of water brought to a boil<br \/>\ndecorated shades of pastel colored Easter eggs<br \/>\nsince when do rabbits lay eggs that aren\u2019t runny?<br \/>\ndoes a mother hen give birth to a little bunny?<br \/>\neggs of course are symbols of birth and life<br \/>\nhard boiled they\u2019re eaten without a fork or knife<br \/>\nno chocolate or hard candy during Lent you fasted<br \/>\nwhile each little boy and girl in slumber sleeps<br \/>\nthe Easter egg hunt over you fill an Easter basket<br \/>\nwith jelly bean eggs and yellow marshmallow peeps<br \/>\npeel back the foil peel the egg shells for egg salad<br \/>\ntell an Easter bunny about this Easter tradition ballad.<\/p>\n<p><em>Author\u2019s Note: Written April 21, 2019 on Easter Sunday morning before I even got out of bed as visions of Easter bunnies, chocolate eggs, and jelly beans ran through my head.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Writes Rites Rights and Lefts of Spring<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dedicated to flores Mayu and all other May flowers that\u00a0beautify our post-Super Typhoon Yutu landscape. Thanks for coming back.<\/p>\n<p>Poets write about spring and fill thousands of books<br \/>\nits glorious growth warm Spring rains and thick mud<br \/>\nfresh dandelion greens picked taken home to cooks<br \/>\na calf milks mother\u2019s teats as mother cow chews her cud.<br \/>\nRites of Spring are experienced world wide by youth<br \/>\nfalling in love walking and holding hands in the rain<br \/>\nlearning that love doesn\u2019t always require the whole truth<br \/>\nat least for now there is always time later to explain.<br \/>\nThose Right turns in springtime the sunflower follows<br \/>\npracticing heliotropism as the sun makes its daily arcs<br \/>\nwarming robin\u2019s red breast and nests of barn swallows<br \/>\nas Johnny-jump-ups, crocus, and tulips flower in the park.<br \/>\nSo what is left for Spring is revealed after April showers<br \/>\nall those inevitable and incredibly beautiful May flowers.<\/p>\n<p><em>Author\u2019s Note: Written 8:15am on April 30, 2019, the last day of April 2019.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How Funny!
