The Commonwealth Health Care Corp. board is down to two members, with a recent board member leaving the ranks a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n
That leaves the board with only two members: board chair Lauri Ogumoro and Saipan representative Polly Masga.<\/p>\n
That leaves the board with no quorum, which means it cannot conduct meetings and business.<\/p>\n
Saipan Tribune learned that Saipan representative David Rosario left the CHCC board a few weeks ago, according to sources familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n
William M. Cing, the CHCC board member representing Tinian, vacated his position in January 2019. Dr. Larry Hocog, the Rota representative on the board, resigned last year.<\/p>\n
Last April 5, 2019, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres appointed Corrine H. Santos to serve as the Tinian representative on the CHCC board; on April 11, 2019, he appointed Elizabeth A. Paeda as the Rota representative. In an interview last week, Torres did not mention an appointment for the Saipan representative.<\/p>\n
However, Torres noted that his office did receive a notice from Ogumoro about the non-participation of Hocog in the board. Torres noted that the letter also included the fact the Hocog resigned from the board last year.<\/p>\n
The CHCC board was completed in mid-June 2017.<\/p>\n
In her resume submitted to Torres\u2019 office, Santos said that she had worked at Oregon\u2019s Portland VA Medical Center\u2019s purchase care division as a voucher examiner from November 2011 to February 2015.<\/p>\n
Before that, she worked with the Tinian Division of Youth Services as a juvenile probation officer from September 1999 to November 2007 and as a special assistant for social affairs for the office of Sen. Henry DLG San Nicolas from October 1995 to September 1996 on Capital Hill.<\/p>\n
At CHCC, she was a developmental physical therapist from August 1991 to December 1991.<\/p>\n
The Governor\u2019s Office has yet to provide the professional history of nominee Paeda.<\/p>\n
Both Paeda and Santos, if confirmed by the Senate, would serve as Tinian and Rota representatives on the CHCC board until June 22, 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
