{"id":298690,"date":"2019-05-02T06:06:22","date_gmt":"2019-05-01T20:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=298690"},"modified":"2019-05-02T06:06:22","modified_gmt":"2019-05-01T20:06:22","slug":"berline-to-issue-subpoena-for-tenorio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/berline-to-issue-subpoena-for-tenorio\/","title":{"rendered":"Berline to issue subpoena for Tenorio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The defense lawyer in the case of a man who is accused of raping an intoxicated woman in 2016 would like to subpoena the previous prosecutor in the case, Teri Tenorio, who has already left the island.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Berline told Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja that he would like to summon Tenorio because she could be personally liable for prosecutorial misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>This contradicts Berline\u2019s statement in a status conference in March, when he said said it would not be necessary to subpoena Tenorio. <\/p>\n<p>Tenorio left the island over a month ago after her contract with the Office of the Attorney General expired. <\/p>\n<p>Berline asked the court to give him 30 days to summon Tenorio because it\u2019s important that she responds. <\/p>\n<p>Berline told the court that, at this point, it should not affect Manolo Romolor\u2019s scheduled trial. Berline adds that he will continue to serve as Romolor\u2019s lawyer pro bono. <\/p>\n<p>The jury trial for Romolor will begin on May 13. The motions hearing has been continued to May 30 to allot Berline time to locate Tenorio and summon her. <\/p>\n<p>Berline earlier asked the court to sanction Tenorio; he alleged prosecutorial misconduct.
