{"id":298933,"date":"2019-05-07T06:00:33","date_gmt":"2019-05-06T20:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=298933"},"modified":"2019-05-07T06:00:33","modified_gmt":"2019-05-06T20:00:33","slug":"community-briefs-may-7-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/community-briefs-may-7-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Briefs &#8211; May 7, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Military training in open ocean, at Farallon de Medinilla<br \/>\nASAN, Guam<\/strong>\u2014The U.S. Navy will conduct an open-ocean exercise today, May 7, and on Wednesday, May 8, from 11am to 11:55pm at the following coordinates 13\u00b0 26\u201dN\/145\u00b0 08\u201dE and 13\u00b0 42\u201dN\/144\u00b0 36\u201dE.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla on May 8, from 7:30am to 8pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. It is also recommended the public, commercial pilots, fishermen and marine tour operators stay clear from these areas during the dates and times indicated.<\/p>\n<p>The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be in a 3-nautical mile radius of the island. <\/p>\n<p>These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. <strong>(PR)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>GCC offers free Construction Boot Camp <\/strong><br \/>\nThe Guam Community College is offering a free Construction Boot Camp for the first 25 registrants. The six-week training cycle will begin on May 20 through July 2, 2019, from 8am to 4 pm at the GCC campus. <\/p>\n<p>The Future Builders of Guam &#8211; Construction Boot Camp will focus on carpentry, welding, electrical, basic blueprint reading, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Participants will be eligible to earn nationally recognized certifications in these areas and be able to earn a National Career Readiness Certification, OSHA-10 Certificate, and CPR\/Basic First Aid. <\/p>\n<p>You must be a high school graduate or have your GED in addition to having your health clearance to be eligible. Nimitz Golf Course, until May 10, from midnight to 7pm.\u00a0 These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. The public should be advised that during these routine trainings, blanks may be used. You can pick up your new passport at Finasisu Terraces Apartment Bldg. D, second floor, top of the Mini-Mart Store, Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm (12pm to 1pm, breaktime). Bring your old passport and receipt when claiming your new passport. If someone else will pick up the passport, there must be an authorization letter from the applicant.
