{"id":299726,"date":"2019-05-20T06:05:26","date_gmt":"2019-05-19T20:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=299726"},"modified":"2019-05-20T06:05:26","modified_gmt":"2019-05-19T20:05:26","slug":"labor-to-host-community-outreach-and-job-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/labor-to-host-community-outreach-and-job-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor to host community outreach and\u00a0job\u00a0fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Department of Labor will be holding its highly anticipated community outreach on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 and a job\u00a0fair on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan ballroom in Garapan.<\/p>\n<p>Both events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>According to an Office of the Governor statement last Thursday, it said that the confirmed number of attendees for the community outreach is already nearing 100. Labor expects the number to grow even higher as the date approaches. Labor sees that as a show of interest in the community outreach being high.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_299728\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-299728\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-299728 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Vicky-Benavente-mug-300x245.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"245\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-299728\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vicky Benavente<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMany employers have also expressed interest in becoming a job\u00a0fair\u00a0participant, which occurs the day after the community outreach. Both events are expected to be resourceful events for employers, employees, and individuals looking for work,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>Topics of discussion during the outreach include enforcement of CNMI labor laws and compliance with them, Workforce Investment Agency program and partnering opportunities for CNMI employers, the labor complaint process and applicable regulations, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Deleon Guerrero, Hive Analytics president and chief administrator of this year\u2019s CNMI prevailing wage survey, will be the guest speaker at the outreach on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Community Outreach is slated to be the biggest event of the year hosted by DOL,\u201d said Jeff Camacho, Division of Enforcement and Compliance director. \u201cEach division director will discuss a topic relevant to current issues affecting CNMI employers and workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Initially scheduled for the Pedro P.
