One of the four men accused of robbing two tourists in Garapan pleaded not guilty on Monday.<\/p>\n
Grant Iderbei, 18, pleaded not guilty before Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja.<\/p>\n
Through his lawyer, Iderbei waived all formal readings of the charges against him and the reading of his constitutional rights.
\nNaraja ordered Iderbei to return to court on June 20 at 9am for a status conference.<\/p>\n
Iderbei appeared in the custody of the Department of Corrections after failing to post the $50,000 cash bail imposed by the court.
\nPolice arrested four men, including Iderbei, and accused them of robbing two tourists in Garapan late night on May 8.<\/p>\n
Based on Monday\u2019s discussion, one of the suspects is a minor who allegedly lied about his age while the two others were released.
\nKoban units responded to the incident on May 8 at 11:20pm.<\/p>\n
The victims, a tourist couple, told police they were heading back to their hotel when an old model silver four-door sedan pulled alongside them.
\nThe woman said a man in a white shirt and wearing a mask reached out and grabbed her black shoulder bag that contained an iPhone 7, a wristwatch, a Wi-Fi router, and two passports, among other things.<\/p>\n
Another woman who witnessed the incident told police that the sedan had four occupants and that the driver had a brown complexion. She further stated that a passenger in a white T-shirt and a mask grabbed the woman\u2019s shoulder bag.<\/p>\n
An officer later spotted a similarly-colored vehicle heading east. Police pulled the car over and, with the driver\u2019s consent, the officer searched the vehicle.<\/p>\n
The search uncovered an iPhone 7 and a wristwatch box without the watch.<\/p>\n
Police allegedly later recovered other stolen items, including the wristwatch and the power bank, at Iderbei\u2019s house in Tanapag. Iderbei allegedly confessed to taking the items.<\/p>\n
