Hopwood Middle School last week after they announced that Ruby DLC Hocog is the 2019 Administrative Staff of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was delayed by Super Typhoon Yutu\u2019s devastation in late October 2018. <\/p>\n<p>Hopwood was able to bag the PSS 2019 Instructor of the Year award through Michael Berbes; 2019 Counselor of the Year award through Jillian Pladevega; and tied with the 2019 Teacher Aide of the Year award through Salote Kesol.<\/p>\n<p>Kesol tied with Garapan Elementary School\u2019s Grace Belyea.<\/p>\n<p>Associate education commissioner for Instructional Services Jackie Quitugua represented Education Commissioner Glenn Mu\u00f1a at the awarding since he was on leave at the time.<\/p>\n<p>This is Hocog\u2019s second state Administrator of the Year award. Her first was in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been with Hopwood for nine years but, with PSS, over 17 years,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>She started her career at Rota\u2019s Sinapalo Elementary School before transferring to Dandan Elementary School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was not expecting this award because I [thought] the award was already done\u2026 I was clueless,\u201d she said, adding that she thought it was already awarded to someone else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026My boss asked me what I wanted [as a gift],\u201d she said, noting that her colleagues were acting \u201cweird\u201d the day prior to the awarding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTruly, these employees deserve [their awards] for their hard work, their resiliency, and passion,\u201d Hopwood principal Dr. Rizalina Liwag said in an interview. \u201cWe are very thankful,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She described Hocog as \u201cvery humble, very patient, very hardworking, very resilient, and she has truly shown passion for what she does in school and what she does for [our students].
