Rep. Joel C. Camacho (R-Saipan) continues to focus on improving traffic visibility and other safety features from Tanapag to As Matuis in the northern part of Saipan.<\/p>\n
His office, with the help of volunteers, recently painted murals\u2014the last just across Kensington Hotel Saipan\u2014on the concrete barriers along the highway in Precinct 4.<\/p>\n
Volunteers also painted and pressure-washed sidewalks and curves, the guard railings along the road going up north, and the island medians.<\/p>\n
Camacho said they plan to put up reflectors along the road from Tanapag all the way up north of Marpi. \u201cWe\u2019re going to put reflectors on concrete poles and island medians, and paint the trees and the island medians.\u201d<\/p>\n
All these are intended to improve visibility at night. \u201cDuring the day, it will be beautiful by seeing all the artwork that we\u2019ve done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
They have also completed the tree visibility project by painting the trees on the island medians along the road. The project was done in cooperation with the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office. \u201cI thank the mayor for allowing my office to paint the trees. Not only does it add beauty to our precinct, [but] it also provides the needed visibility at night for the safety of our motorists.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Department of Public Works also joined in. \u201cDPW sent some of its staff to help paint the sidewalk curbs and guard railings. \u2026It is also an added road safety feature.\u201d<\/p>\n
He advises people who want to take selfies with the murals as background to park in a safe area and walk toward them. <\/p>\n
Camacho, together with his staff\u2014Gregorio John Camacho, Ramon Sablan, and Rita C. Cabrera\u2014are also looking into a project that will promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to take a more proactive approach on [non-communicable diseases]. That\u2019s one of the ideas behind this [mural] project. That\u2019s the deeper meaning behind all of this. I want people to exercise more and be motivated to go out.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re going to walk and admire the artwork that we\u2019ve done while, at the same time, get your needed exercise. I want our people to start doing that in order to start reducing NCD\u2019s. It is about being\u2026proactive.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
