(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Stallion Battalion of the Tinian Junior\/Senior High School took part in the island\u2019s observance of Memorial Day last Monday, joining ranking island officials in the afternoon at Tinian\u2019s Veterans Memorial Park.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the ceremony was Jovita San Nicolas Paulino.<\/p>\n<p>The Stallion Battalion\u2019s color guard team\u2014which consisted of cadet Staff Sgt. Angel Lagunay (commander), cadet Staff Sgt. William Tudela, cadet Cpl. Emiliana King, and cadet Sgt. Cielo Long\u2014led the posting of colors to kick off the commemoration.<\/p>\n<p>Both the U.S. and CNMI anthems were sung by cadet Cpl. Karen Lagunay, while Fr. Rey D. Rosal gave the invocation.<\/p>\n<p>Tania Marie Mendiola from the CNMI Military\/Veterans Affairs Office welcomed guests to the ceremony, while Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan gave special remarks.<\/p>\n<p>A highlight of the event was a simple roll call for fallen servicemembers with roots on Tinian. That included PO2 James Michael Wedding (U.S. Navy), Ameko Pato (U.S. Army), Cpl. Frederico V. Dela Cruz (U.S. Army), Staff Sgt. Julian Francis A. Manglona (U.S. Army), Specialist Hanson Mendiola (U.S. Army), Private First Class Victor M. Fontanilla (U.S. Army), Seaman Apprentice AnaMarie San Nicolas Camacho (U.S. Navy), Specialist Johnny Jesus R. Tumed (U.S. Army), Vicente Atalig (U.S. Army), Norman Palacios (U.S. Army), Juan O. Kiyoshi (U.S. Army), Sgt. Nazario San Nicolas Borja (U.S. Army), Lawrence H. Brewster (U.S. Navy), Manuel P. Quitugua (U.S. Air Force), Master Sgt. Russell Alvin Long (U.S. Air Force), and William Safer (U.S. Army).<\/p>\n<p>Wreaths were laid at the cemetery, a moment of silence was observed, and taps was played.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Jude U. Hofschneider (R-Tinian) gave concluding remarks.<\/p>\n<p>Food and refreshments were later provided to the audience.
