The U.S. government charged yesterday a female cab driver who is an alleged overstaying tourist for using a fake CNMI driver\u2019s license. <\/p>\n
Chunqiao Chen was charged with conspiracy to unlawfully produce an identification document.<\/p>\n
In the information filed in federal court, assistant U.S. attorney Garth R. Backe alleged that Chen committed the offense between May 2 and May 16, 2019.<\/p>\n
He said Chen conspired with another person to come up with the fake driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n
Homeland Security Investigations officers arrested Chen two week ago on Saipan after she presented a fake driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n
HSI task force officer Jesse Dubrall allegedly encountered Chen last May 16 and recognized her as the one from whom he had seized an expired Saipan driver\u2019s license last May 2.<\/p>\n
When Dubrall asked Chen why she was driving again when he had previously advised her that she could not legally drive on Saipan, she allegedly presented Dubrall with another driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n
After checking with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Dubrall determined that the Saipan driver\u2019s license was fake. <\/p>\n
Chen was then arrested after HSI filed a complaint against her. Chen allegedly entered the CNMI as a tourist and is already overstaying. She was later allowed to post bail and release to a third-party custodian.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
