{"id":300530,"date":"2019-05-30T06:00:46","date_gmt":"2019-05-29T20:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=300530"},"modified":"2019-05-30T06:00:46","modified_gmt":"2019-05-29T20:00:46","slug":"judge-dismisses-inmates-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/judge-dismisses-inmates-lawsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge dismisses inmate\u2019s lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The federal court has dismissed an inmate\u2019s lawsuit against some former and current Department of Corrections officials who allegedly put him in solitary confinement and failed to provide him with adequate mental health treatment. <\/p>\n<p>In an order Tuesday, U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona dismissed Jerry Ray\u2019s lawsuit after the parties reached a settlement agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Ray can no longer re-file the case.<\/p>\n<p>Manglona instructed the court\u2019s clerk to close the case.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI government and some former and current DOC officials agreed to settle the lawsuit by paying Ray $500 in court costs and amending DOC\u2019s regulations on disciplinary sanctions and administrative segregation, among other terms.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining defendants in this case are the CNMI government, former DOC commissioner Vincent S. Attao, DOC director Gregory Castro, and classification officer Cynthia B.
