The United Filipino Organization hosted the 121st Philippine Independence Day celebration yesterday at the Marianas Business Plaza\u2019s parking area with the traditional staging of Pistang Pinoy, a variety show intended to draw the island\u2019s Filipino community together.<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s main highlights was a singing contest focusing on original Filipino music and the dance contest, which focused on traditional Filipino dances. The Cornerstone Church Performing Arts Group, the Revive Band, the Saipan Music and Dance Studio or SMADS, and many others also gave performances.<\/p>\n
Results of the competitions would be published in the following days.<\/p>\n
Among the sponsors this year are IT&E, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, LBC Express, Coca Cola, Armatech Corp., and Amari\u2019s Tavern. <\/p>\n
UFO president Gerry De Guzman thanked the members of the UFO for setting up the Marianas Business Plaza\u2019s parking area for the celebration. \u201cTheir hard work was the reason why we are able to have a successful event,\u201d said De Guzman. <\/p>\n
The event also hosted a health screening at 7am and a Zumba dance event at 8am. <\/p>\n
