{"id":301512,"date":"2019-06-14T06:06:19","date_gmt":"2019-06-13T20:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=301512"},"modified":"2019-06-14T06:06:19","modified_gmt":"2019-06-13T20:06:19","slug":"takai-camacho-lead-khs-class-of-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/takai-camacho-lead-khs-class-of-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Takai, Camacho lead KHS Class of 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_301513\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-301513\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Britney-C.-Takai.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Britney-C.-Takai-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-301513\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-301513\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">BRITNEY TAKAI-<br \/>Board of Education Award, Valedictorian<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kagman High School sent off its Class of 2019 last Wednesday afternoon in a graduation ceremony at the American Memorial Park amphitheater.<\/p>\n<p>The class valedictorian, Britney Takai, wants to pursue a biology degree in college, while the salutatorian, De Faustina Camacho, wants to pursue a degree in psychology.<\/p>\n<p>In a later interview, Takai said she is looking at eventually becoming a forensic scientist in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI am going to attend the Boise State University to take up biology,\u201d Takai said, adding that she wants to come back to the CNMI to do research. \u201cI want to come back and be a forensic scientist,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Takai noted that she is fascinated with criminal justice, humans, and life.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_301514\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-301514\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/De-Faustina-Camacho.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/De-Faustina-Camacho-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-301514\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-301514\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DE FAUSTINA CAMACHO-<br \/>Commissioner\u2019s Award, Salutatorian<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI put two and two together,\u201d she said, adding that she came up with the decision to become a forensic scientist even before she became a senior. <\/p>\n<p>Takai also participated in the State Trade Expansion Program, or the STEP UP program, in the CNMI, where she discovered a love for research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very excited to do it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho, on the other hand, would be taking up psychology at the Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. This early, she is already sure about coming back to Saipan after college. She is still unsure as yet about what she actually plans to do here then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to become a doctor, but I feel like my plans would change once I get out there. I might go into business, I might go into obstetrics, I\u2019m not too sure,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_301515\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-301515\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Nicolas-Neal-Cangco-Nekai-Jr..jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Nicolas-Neal-Cangco-Nekai-Jr.-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-301515\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-301515\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NICOLAS NEAL CANGCO NEKAI JR.-<br \/>Principal\u2019s Award<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At Wednesday\u2019s graduation, Takai also collected the Board of Education Award, while Camacho collected the Commissioner\u2019s Award and Governor\u2019s Outstanding Student Award, while Nicolas Neal Cangco Nekai Jr. collected the Principal\u2019s Award.<\/p>\n<p>Also honored during the KHS 2019 commencement exercises were the other top 10 students of the class: Mark Anthony Pantol Dilay, Jose Dyangelo C. Cabrera, Mariecris A. Estal, Marc Angelo P. Borja, Mikah Sarsua Bandoja, Kristine Mae Palmes, Kyle Peter T. San Nicolas, and Genzo Matua S.
