Here are\u00a0poems about them with Independence Day views and\u00a0a sonnet parody I wrote sung to the tune of You Ain\u2019t\u00a0Nothing But a Hound Dog, a popular 1950&#8217;s song recorded by\u00a0Big Mama Thornton and Elvis Presley.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You Ain&#8217;t Nothin\u2019 But a Hamburg<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You ain\u2019t nothin but a hamburg, frying all the time<br \/>\nyou ain\u2019t nothin but a hamburg, frying all the time<br \/>\nnothing but a hamburger sizzling in the fast food line.<br \/>\nWell, they said you were lowfat, that was just a lie<br \/>\nthey said you was lowfat, that was just a pack of lies<br \/>\nwannabe lowfat get rid of them buns, shake and fries.<br \/>\nYou ain\u2019t nothin but a hamburg, frying all the time<br \/>\nyou ain\u2019t nothin but a hamburg just a frying all the time<br \/>\nnothin but a hamburger with a cheese slice on your mind.<br \/>\nYou ain\u2019t nothin but a hamburg, crying all the time<br \/>\nyou ain\u2019t nothin but a hamburg, just a crying all the time<br \/>\nlittle baby burger those onions got you cryin\u2019 all the time.<br \/>\nYou ain\u2019t nothing but a hamburger, just a grilling all the time<br \/>\nflip it over quarter pounder there\u2019s some hot dogs next in line.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cMy favorite meat is a hotdog, by the way. That is my favorite meat. My second favorite meat is hamburger. And, everyone says, \u2018Oh, don\u2019t you prefer steak?\u2019 It\u2019s like, I know steaks are best, but I like hotdog best, and I like hamburger next best.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2014Mitt Romney, U.S. senator, Utah<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Hotdog Returns Dyspeptic Heartburn<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They sold me, right after I cooked, because my smell<br \/>\nto them seemed piquant and delicious in the air<br \/>\nthat aroma slowly wafting everywhere<br \/>\nwith its warm succulent fragrance casting a spell<br \/>\nall around until no nose would have a nostril<br \/>\nthat had not had its nasal passages stirred.<br \/>\nThen its neural receptors in the grey matter<br \/>\nsent everyone a most mouthwatering message<br \/>\nfrom me. Pile those hot dogs high on the platter.<br \/>\nBut this boiled world is not my only visage.<br \/>\nIndeed one might say this Frankfurter sometimes frys<br \/>\nI should acknowledge my Viennese heritage<br \/>\nand love for my Italian and Polish sausage allies.<br \/>\nPerhaps, once, with sweet relish, I dreamed of mustard.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHere is some non-caloric brain food for thought: \u201cIf the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to slaughter.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2014George Washington<\/p>\n<p><strong>Independence: Where Did it Send Us<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201c\u2026the very essence of our interdependence is peace, love, discipline, and tolerance.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2014Slinger Francisco aka The Mighty Sparrow<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nEach 4th\u00a0of July we celebrate independence, where did it send us<br \/>\nafter the Revolutionary War into a terrible bloody tragic Civil War<br \/>\nthen into two great World Wars with a great army to defend us<br \/>\nfighting against Japanese Imperialism, German Nazis and more.<br \/>\n\u00a0Independence sent us on one of the world\u2019s great political journeys<br \/>\ntowards freedom for all mankind from dictatorship and tyranny<br \/>\nit sent us U.S. citizens in that direction but dictators still abound<br \/>\nand tyrants (both petty and grandiose) still exist the world around.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u201cWhat hath God wrought? \u201d used by S.F.B Morse, telegraph inventor<br \/>\nflash forward to the cyber highway with a tweeter leader at the center<br \/>\nour 45th\u00a0president came into office through the electoral college we now<br \/>\nknow about the U.S. Constitution he has a serious lack of knowledge.<br \/>\n\u00a0Legislative independence sends US Congress members and reporters<br \/>\nto examine the horror of children in detention on the Mexican border.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nA final thought from our 16th\u00a0POTUS, Abraham Lincoln: \u201cThose who deny freedom to others deserve it not themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I will say it with relish.
