{"id":30376,"date":"2014-03-20T17:52:08","date_gmt":"2014-03-20T09:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tribune.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=30376"},"modified":"2014-03-20T17:52:08","modified_gmt":"2014-03-20T09:52:08","slug":"gop-names-3-official-rota-candidates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/gop-names-3-official-rota-candidates\/","title":{"rendered":"GOP names 3 official Rota candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Republican Party named yesterday three of their official candidates on Rota for the November elections\u2014two for senator and one for mayor.<br \/>\nIvan Blanco, chairman of the GOP Central Committee\u2019s public relations team, said the GOP\u2019s Rota senatorial candidates are current Rep. Teresita Santos (R-Rota) and Steve K. Mesngon, a retired resident director for the Department of Public Safety-Rota.<\/p>\n<p>The GOP\u2019s candidate for Rota mayor is Efrain M. Atalig, a former chief of staff for the past four Rota mayors, Blanco said.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican Party will be announcing their Rota representative candidates, as well as their Tinian candidates, at a later time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe await Tinian\u2019s endorsements,\u201d Blanco added.<\/p>\n<p>This follows the GOP\u2019s previous endorsement of six more candidates for Saipan election precincts.\u00a0On Saipan, the Republican Party has been trying to coalesce with independents and those from other parties, that\u2019s why it has not been completing its slates for most precincts.\u00a0These include Precinct 1 which has six House seats but the GOP slate only has four names, as well as Precinct 3 which has six seats but there are only three Republican bets.<\/p>\n<p>With eight months to go before the November general polls, the CNMI may have three to four gubernatorial teams.\u00a0The more candidates, the greater the chance for another gubernatorial runoff if no one gets at least 50 percent plus one of the votes cast in the general elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Republican Party named yesterday three of their official candidates on Rota for the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":35,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[26,141],"class_list":["post-30376","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-cnmi","tag-gop"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/30376","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/35"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=30376"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/30376\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=30376"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=30376"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=30376"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
