VENUS)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In honor of probation and parole professionals, and in recognition of their achievements for the CNMI, the week of July 21 to 27 has been designated as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week.<\/p>\n<p>In a proclamation signing yesterday at the Governor\u2019s Office conference room on Capital Hill, Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, acting in Gov. Ralph DLG Torres\u2019 stead, said that next week\u2019s observance marks the 19th anniversary of Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week. He thanked probation and parole professionals in the CNMI for their keeping the community safe and helping those under their supervision.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo, who was at yesterday\u2019s proclamation signing, recognized the contributions of corrections professionals who are responsible for supervising adult and juvenile offenders. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cProbation officers, parole officers, and the many others involved in community corrections play an indispensable role in implementing and enforcing those goals so essential to maintaining the rule of law,\u201d Govendo said. <\/p>\n<p>He said that presentence investigation reports that probation officers sometimes submit in court play a big role in his consideration of a prison sentence for an offender.<\/p>\n<p>He also applauded the CNMI Drug Court, saying it has seen overall success after being in operations for over two years.<\/p>\n<p>There are about 23 adult and juvenile probation and parole professionals in the CNMI who supervise more than 400 adult and juvenile offenders.  <\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year is \u201cRestoring trust and creating hope.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In honor of probation and parole professionals, and in recognition of their achievements for the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":303927,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-303926","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/303926","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/13"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=303926"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/303926\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/303927"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=303926"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=303926"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=303926"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
