The two also own Armatech Corp.

“We decided to open Pepoy’s because we want…our community to have a…comfortable hub where they can dine and socialize with family and friends with great comfort food and good company,” said Bong Malasarte.

Pepoy’s has an international cuisine, but it’s bestseller so far has been its piping-hot bulalo, a Filipino stew made from beef shanks and marrow bones.

Bong Malasarte said he wants Pepoy’s to be a relaxing hangout—a restcafe—and a place where people can enjoy tasty yet affordable food. It could also serve as a spot where white collar-types can transact business, with Pepoy’s serving fresh brewed coffee throughout the day.

“We want to satisfy our customers with good taste of food and affordable price. We also want to create a comfortable ambiance where people are…at ease,” he said.

Pepoy’s is also unique because its furniture is made with wooden pallets and, for a limited time, the restaurant is giving away a Pepoy’s T-shirt for orders of more than $30.

Asked why they opened a new business venture during uncertain economic times, Bong Malasarte said the food business is actually austerity-free because everyone needs to “eat three times a day.”

“We understand the current government situation and the austerity measure that they are implementing. But we feel this is also good timing to put up Pepoy’s. The place offers an alternative to a hungry stomach,” he said.

Pepoy’s Restcafe is open daily from 6am to 10pm. It can sit a maximum of 40 customers.
