Ultimate Tournament, last Saturday, July 13, while his finals competitor, Christian “Curious” Castro, secured the second place.

Hosted by Technic Computer Gaming, 40 players faced off in one-versus-one matchups in a double elimination style bracket, for a total of 88 matches over the course of several hours.

The event also boasted a good number of the Super Smash Bros. gaming community watching and supporting friends.

In the early evening, the final matches were a four-way slugfest, with Ube Taro, Lancelot, Blitz, and Phantom advancing to the semifinals. Only two would move on to the finals. Phantom eventually bested third place winner Lance “Lancelot” Elayda’s Ness to secure his seat in the grand finals.

Meanwhile in the Losers Bracket, Joshua “Ube Taro” Sanchez lost to semifinalist and fourth place winner, Lester “Frankenheimer” Guevarra. Frankenheimer would later be matched against Christian “Curious” Castro, after Curious ousted Kanicio “Blitz” Hosono. Curious fought several back-to-back matches to earn his seat in the grand finals against Phantom, the same contender who sent Curious to the Losers Bracket earlier that day.

The grand finals match began just before 10pm with a small crowd still present and eager to see the final outcome. Curious played as Pokemon Trainer while Phantom played as Palutena. Both contenders displayed a great degree of skill and practice throughout the match, but Phantom remained dominant in the end, securing the first-place win with Curious taking second place.

Tournament official Juanet Sablan congratulated the winners and all Smash Fest contenders on behalf of Technic Computer Gaming. “Everyone is a winner today and Technic is so grateful to all its supporters, participants and volunteers for making the event a huge success! We are so happy to finally meet the CNMI Smash community and we look forward to more events soon,” Sablan said.

The company plans to host Smash Melee and possibly other smaller competitive events in the near future, and will very likely host Smash Fast again next year.
