{"id":304467,"date":"2019-07-24T06:06:55","date_gmt":"2019-07-23T20:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=304467"},"modified":"2019-07-24T06:06:55","modified_gmt":"2019-07-23T20:06:55","slug":"rota-generator-issue-nearly-done","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/rota-generator-issue-nearly-done\/","title":{"rendered":"Rota generator issue nearly done"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. was set to deliver through a plane yesterday from Saipan to Rota a cable that was supposed to resolve the only remaining technical problem to set up the 1.8-megawatt generator on Rota, according to acting CUC executive director William Gilmore.<\/p>\n<p>Gilmore said the cable would be the last item that has to be installed and that will finish the project.<\/p>\n<p>The entire worth of the project to purchase the generator is $690,000. It was bought to address a power emergency on Rota.<\/p>\n<p>Gilmore said the installation of the generator on Rota was delayed due to an issue in delivering the unit from the U.S. mainland to Rota.<\/p>\n<p>There were also slab and then \u201cgrounding\u201d issues, but those were already resolved, he said.<\/p>\n<p>With respect to the \u201ccable issue,\u201d Gilmore said they had a problem with getting a flight to bring the item to Rota. \u201cThe cable\u2026that should be resolved today,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Gilmore said other power engines are functioning on Rota.<\/p>\n<p>He said the new power engine that CUC had purchased prior to the one that was bought for the emergency had already arrived on Rota and is functioning well.<\/p>\n<p>CUC executive director Gary P.
