{"id":304560,"date":"2019-07-25T06:01:41","date_gmt":"2019-07-24T20:01:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=304560"},"modified":"2019-07-25T06:01:41","modified_gmt":"2019-07-24T20:01:41","slug":"boss-firstnet-to-be-deployed-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/boss-firstnet-to-be-deployed-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Boss: FirstNet to be deployed in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Docomo Pacific\u2019s deployment of FirstNet in the Marianas is anticipated by 2020 and it promises to provide CNMI first responders its own platform for communication during emergencies and natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>In a short interview with Docomo Pacific CEO Roderick Boss, he said the project is a partnership between AT&amp;T, the broadband that offers FirstNet, and Docomo as its CNMI provider.<\/p>\n<p>Boss said FirstNet would be beneficial to the Marianas, especially since the Marianas is prone to experiencing major typhoons like Super Typhoon Yutu and Typhoon Soudelor. \u201cFirstNet would allow unified communication for all first responders,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>When asked how bringing the FirstNet platform to the CNMI would benefit Docomo, Boss said this would allow Docomo to expand its number of cell sites. Docomo currently has 38 cell sites in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>Boss stated that Docomo is committed to sustaining this partnership with AT&amp;T.<\/p>\n<p>FirstNet is being built with AT&amp;T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority)\u2014an independent agency within the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>FirstNet delivers a single, nationwide network platform that\u2019s purpose-built to enhance communications across the entire public safety community.
