{"id":304583,"date":"2019-07-25T06:06:29","date_gmt":"2019-07-24T20:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=304583"},"modified":"2019-07-25T06:06:29","modified_gmt":"2019-07-24T20:06:29","slug":"eeoc-expands-online-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/eeoc-expands-online-services\/","title":{"rendered":"EEOC expands online services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced yesterday the expansion of its\u00a0EEOC Public Portal\u00a0to allow federal employees and applicants to file and manage requests for hearings and appeals of their federal equal employment opportunity complaints.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis secure online system is a faster and easier way for federal employees, agencies and the EEOC to communicate, send and receive documents, and track case status,\u201d said EEOC chair Janet Dhillon. \u201cWe expect it to greatly improve the efficiency and transparency of the EEOC\u2019s hearings and appeals of discrimination complaints brought by federal employees and applicants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0EEOC Public Portal\u00a0allows federal employees and applicants (complainants) to create an account in order to submit an online request for a hearing or to file an appeal of their discrimination complaint. The Public Portal also permits these complainants to:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Identify an attorney or representative and provide their contact information<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Submit and receive documents supporting their case<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Check the status of their case<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Update contact information<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Respond to an invitation to engage in alternative dispute resolution at the hearings stage<\/p>\n<p>The EEOC is also notifying complainants with pending cases that they may register in the Public Portal to manage their cases. Individuals with hearings and appeals that were filed on or after Oct. 1, 2016, that are still pending and who have an email address in their case file will receive an email with instructions on how to register and create an account in the Public Portal.<\/p>\n<p>The EEOC has developed\u00a0Frequently Asked Questions and User Guides\u00a0to help federal employees and their representatives and federal agencies use the EEOC Public Portal.<\/p>\n<p>More information is available at\u00a0www.eeoc.gov.
