A preliminary hearing is intended to determine if there\u2019s cause to try someone in court.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Camacho Torres, 40, was arrested for allegedly possessing a controlled substance that was found after the car he was a passenger in was stopped by police for a traffic infraction.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan ordered Torres to return to court to be arraigned on July 29.<\/p>\n<p>According to Saipan Tribune archives, Torres was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by police for running without headlights.<\/p>\n<p>Torres allegedly violated police orders when he was ordered to put his hands on the dashboard while police were searching the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Torres was allegedly seen reaching into his right pocket twice and reaching beneath the passenger seat, which led police to ask him to step out of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>After multiple attempts to ask the officer why he was being asked to step out of the vehicle, he complied and police found various drug paraphernalia\u2019s and a baggie containing a crystal-like substance beneath the passenger seat.<\/p>\n<p>Police also found a used glass pipe, a yellow lighter, a half-sealed straw, a zip lock bag containing three other zip lock bags, two of which contained crystal like substances that later tested positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A CNMI Drug Court graduate who was arrested last week for alleged possession of methamphetamine&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[9364],"class_list":["post-304585","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-drug-court"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/304585","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=304585"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/304585\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=304585"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=304585"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=304585"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
