A CNMI Drug Court graduate who was arrested last week for alleged possession of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday. A preliminary hearing is intended to determine if there\u2019s cause to try someone in court.<\/p>\n
Robert Camacho Torres, 40, was arrested for allegedly possessing a controlled substance that was found after the car he was a passenger in was stopped by police for a traffic infraction.<\/p>\n
Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan ordered Torres to return to court to be arraigned on July 29.<\/p>\n
According to Saipan Tribune archives, Torres was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by police for running without headlights.<\/p>\n
Torres allegedly violated police orders when he was ordered to put his hands on the dashboard while police were searching the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Torres was allegedly seen reaching into his right pocket twice and reaching beneath the passenger seat, which led police to ask him to step out of the vehicle.<\/p>\n
After multiple attempts to ask the officer why he was being asked to step out of the vehicle, he complied and police found various drug paraphernalia\u2019s and a baggie containing a crystal-like substance beneath the passenger seat.<\/p>\n
Police also found a used glass pipe, a yellow lighter, a half-sealed straw, a zip lock bag containing three other zip lock bags, two of which contained crystal like substances that later tested positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
