Miranda as the special agent in charge of the FBI\u2019s Honolulu field office.<\/p>\n<p>Miranda most recently served as the director of the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group.<\/p>\n<p>Miranda joined the FBI as a special agent in 2001. He was first assigned to the San Juan field office in Puerto Rico, then moved to the Tampa field office in Florida. He investigated organized crime, and drugs and money laundering, as well as terrorism and counterintelligence cases. He also served on the SWAT teams of both offices.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006, Miranda was promoted to a supervisory special agent and moved to the Counterterrorism Division at FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. He served as the program manager for national security investigations based in the continental United States. In 2009, he served as the FBI senior advisor to the U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. In 2011, he was named the assistant legal attach\u00e9 in Kabul, Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, Miranda was named the supervisory senior resident agent for the Brownsville Resident Agency of the San Antonio field office, where he had oversight of FBI investigative programs in the surrounding communities. In 2014, he was named the assistant special agent in charge of the McAllen Resident Agency, also under the San Antonio field office.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, Miranda was promoted to director of the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group at FBI headquarters. The program is a cooperative effort between the FBI, Central Intelligence Agency, and the U.S. Department of Defense, and works to collect intelligence through lawful interrogations.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining the FBI, Miranda served in the U.S. Army and later in law enforcement in Florida. He earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in management and a master\u2019s degree in public administration from Troy State University in Alabama. Miranda also completed executive education courses at Harvard\u2019s Kennedy School of Government and at the University of Michigan\u2019s Ross School of Business.
