{"id":304899,"date":"2019-07-30T06:06:19","date_gmt":"2019-07-29T20:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=304899"},"modified":"2019-07-30T06:06:19","modified_gmt":"2019-07-29T20:06:19","slug":"senate-resolution-honors-hyatt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/senate-resolution-honors-hyatt\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate resolution honors Hyatt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate honored Hyatt Regency Saipan\u2019s contribution to the sustainability of the CNMI\u2019s hospitality industry with a resolution that was presented to hotel executives at the 4th Annual Northern Marianas Trades Institute gala last Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Members of the Senate and NMTI personnel presented the Senate resolution that specifically recognized Hyatt general manager Nick Nishikawa as a catalyst and leader in NMTI\u2019s hospitality program. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[This] has motivated local residents to enter careers directly related to tourism industry,\u201d the resolution states. <\/p>\n<p>In a brief statement, Nishikawa said that Hyatt knows the importance of the hotel and hospitality industry in the CNMI and Hyatt is always happy to contribute. <\/p>\n<p>According to NMTI CEO Agnes McPhetres the resolution shows their gratitude for all that Hyatt has done for NMTI\u2019s culinary arts program. <\/p>\n<p>McPhetres added that the resolution is to recognize Hyatt regency for coming out to help the NMTI when it was in such dire need, especially when their buildings were toppled over and NMTI was not eligible for federal assistance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHyatt Regency has been helping the [Northern] Marianas Trades Institute when they did not have facilities, when the typhoon broke down the whole buildings and we didn\u2019t have classrooms. Hyatt Regency opened its doors and its kitchen and for many years we didn\u2019t have a kitchen to teach our students, so Hyatt offered its facilities to teach our students,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>McPhetres added that Hyatt is the best example of the private sector and the educational system working in harmony. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just like our agreement now with Triple J on the culinary arts program.
