Knight<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014The International Economic Development Council announced on March 19 that Lynn A. Knight has been appointed vice president of Knowledge Management and Development of the Washington, D.C.-based organization. A Certified Economic Developer, Knight joined IEDC on March 10, reporting to Jeff Finkle, IEDC president and CEO.<br \/>\n\u201cI am pleased to welcome Lynn to our team. Her broad economic development knowledge combined with extensive management experience both in the U.S. and internationally makes Lynn uniquely well-suited to IEDC\u2019s mission,\u201d said Finkle.<\/p>\n<p>Knight\u2019s roles and responsibilities include managing a team of professional researchers, project managers, and content developers who are tasked with staying on top of the latest trends in economic development. In this position she works closely with the IEDC leadership and the Economic Development Research Partners, a high level membership think tank, manages the organization\u2019s newsletter and research publications, develops conference and webinar content, reviews publications for the IEDC\u2019s ever-expanding library and bookstore, oversees federally-sponsored economic development projects, technical assistance and cooperative projects that are undertaken with partner organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining IEDC, Knight served as the director of Economic Development Programs for Management Analysis, Inc., consulting with local and federal government clients in six states. She served as the representative of a territorial governor in Washington D.C., chaired two economic development commissions, a hotel association and the Chamber of Commerce for the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. For eight years she was a vice president of Tan Holdings, an international firm that operated businesses in a dozen industries. Early in her career she was an entrepreneur, founding a business incubator and a full service advertising agency, which she operated for 14 years. Knight earned a double major in Communications and Psychology from California State University, Chico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a wonderful opportunity to do meaningful work in a field that ties together all of my past experience,\u201d said Knight. \u201cMy work in the Marianas helped prepare me for this in many ways\u2014having seen the rise and fall of an economy, efforts to diversify and grow industries, the way people and public-private organizations collaborated on the recovery efforts\u2014it was all great experience that has broadened my perspective on economic development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The International Economic Development Council is a non-profit membership organization serving economic developers.
