The Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Program\u2019s Hinemlu O\u2019hala Para Enteramenti Recovery Center\u2014or the HOPE Recovery Center\u2014was closed last Saturday due to electrical issues and its participants and staff were sent home. <\/p>\n
In a phone interview with Yvette Sablan, special assistant for Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation, she confirmed that the center had to close down but it was because of fluctuating power outages as a result of electrical issues within the building. <\/p>\n
Participants of SAAR and staff have since been informed to return since the program was temporarily moved to the Kagman Emergency Shelter Facility yesterday. <\/p>\n
Sablan shot down rumors that the center was closed down because of funding, reiterating that it was because of the power outages. Sablan added that the problem is currently being dealt with and repairs are underway. <\/p>\n
According to an Office of the Governor statement, the SAAR Program has been in communication with the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and the Office of the Governor to resolve the electrical system as soon as possiblrogram is not closed and that outpatient services will not be disrupted. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur group home and clinical staff have been in communication with the participants and are fully aware that there is no disruption with treatment. While CUC and other partners are addressing the utility issues at the site, our outpatient services are still ongoing and will be provided at the Kagman Emergency Shelter Facility right by Santa Soledad Church,\u201d Sablan said. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have ensured the continuity of treatment to our participants and emphasize our commitment to helping our most vulnerable residents. \u2026We continue our outreach efforts to reduce the stigma regarding treatment and remind our community that help is available,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n
