Two more teams entered the win column in the 2019 One Pacific Promotional Basketball League after beating their respective opponents last Tuesday at the Civic Center Court in Susupe.<\/p>\n
In the curtain-raiser, Tsingtao Boyz dominated Gilas Batang, 72-57, while Connie\u2019s BBQ outclassed IT&E Dark in the nightcap, 73-66. Tsingtao Boyz and Connie\u2019s BBQ joined opening day victors IT&E Light and Mawati in the winners circle of the 12-team league.<\/p>\n
Connie\u2019s BBQ prevailed in the seesaw battle after saving its best for last. The squad scored 25 points in the fourth period\u2014its biggest production in a quarter.<\/p>\n
Before going all out in the final canto, Connie\u2019s BBQ once fell behind by 8 in the third, 34-42, as Feric Aguon managed to hit three triples for IT&E Dark in the penultimate frame. Connie\u2019s BBQ then regrouped late in the third to take back the upper hand, 48-45, going into the final canto, with Austin Camacho scoring 6 of the team\u2019s last 8 markers.<\/p>\n
Connie\u2019s BBQ went on to keep its distance, as Camacho got enough help from his teammates to foil IT&E Dark\u2019s repeated comeback bids. Joel Andrew Danao delivered 8 points in the fourth quarter after ending the first three periods with only a deuce to his credit. Darwin Barbo and Camacho added 4 points each, while three other Connie\u2019s BBQ players also hit the board in the payoff canto.<\/p>\n
While Connie\u2019s BBQ spread the wealth in the fourth frame, it was a different story for IT&E Dark, which had only Aguon, Ivan Devero, and Raymark Castro knocking in baskets in the finale.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Tsingtao Boyz also ran a balanced offense to beat Gilas Batang.<\/p>\n
Jetsen Jandoc led Tsingtao Boyz with his 22 points, while Jess Pineda and Gerald Rivera finished in double-figures, too with 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
