{"id":305340,"date":"2019-08-06T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-05T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=305340"},"modified":"2019-08-06T06:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-08-05T20:00:00","slug":"high-surf-predicted-until-thursday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/high-surf-predicted-until-thursday\/","title":{"rendered":"High surf predicted until Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Large monsoon swells are moving toward the Marianas and are expected to generate hazardous surf through at least Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, the high surf advisory is now in effect until 6am Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Surf will remain at hazardous levels of 8 to 11 feet along south-facing reefs and at hazardous levels of 11 to 14 feet along west-facing reefs through at least Wednesday. Surf heights could briefly reach 15 feet through today, Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>Surf will gradually diminish around midweek.<\/p>\n<p>The high surf could produce localized beach erosion and dangerous conditions for swimmers and beach-goers.<\/p>\n<p>The public is advised to avoid venturing out along south- and west-facing reefs and beaches. Large breaking waves can knock you down and cause serious injuries.
