(CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kensington Hotel Saipan has been making efforts to incorporate more green practices into everyday operation. In addition to continued campaigns to change bed linens less often or to reduce food waste, the five-star hotel makes further attempts for a sustainable environment.<\/p>\n<p>Being aware of growing concerns toward massive plastic use, the hotel recently terminated the use of plastic straws at all of its restaurant outlets and bars, and replaced them with paper ones. The hotel unfolded its \u201cSkip Straws\u201d campaign last April to minimize the use of straws. Some of the plastic one-time use cups are also swapped with reusable glass cups. The cups are used when serving welcome drinks for all check-in guests and free shaved-ice refreshments at the main pool.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just the beginning, but we believe that every small action counts. We will keep steering our operation into a more eco-friendly direction, and we are very hopeful because more and more guests are agreeing with us,\u201d said Matthew Park, the president of E-Land Group Hotels in Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>He adds, \u201cTo exert our environmental responsibility, we also have been supporting Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance\u2019s initiatives. We will resume E-Land Environmental Youth Alliance program through which we sponsored environmental club activities of schools in Saipan.
