The group usually donates backpacks with school supplies for the children, just in time for the start of classes.

“We opted to do this because we figured that they get to help them out,” Sebangiol said. “They are going through such a hard situation, and especially the kids.”

She hopes that this donation would help cover the back-to-school costs of those who receive the gift certificates.

According to Karidat executive director Lauri Ogumoro, this will help mothers get their children ready for school. “Getting kids ready for school is always a trying time for a lot of families because it’s expensive… and this [donation] is…a big help,” Ogumoro said.

SINMI made the donation at the Karidat office at the Sister Remedios Community Center in Chalan Kanoa.

SINMI is a non-profit organization leading to empower women through education. Their signature project is the “Live Your Dream” award, which gives $1,000 to a woman attending college who is the primary financial support for her family.

The nonprofit group Soroptimist International NMI donated $500 worth of gift certificates to Karidat Social…

[4

post-306320","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
