{"id":306567,"date":"2019-08-23T06:06:42","date_gmt":"2019-08-22T20:06:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=306567"},"modified":"2019-08-23T06:06:42","modified_gmt":"2019-08-22T20:06:42","slug":"brilliant-star-welcomes-beyer-as-new-principal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/brilliant-star-welcomes-beyer-as-new-principal\/","title":{"rendered":"Brilliant Star welcomes Beyer as new principal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Brilliant Star Montessori School is celebrating its 20th year in the CNMI this year by welcoming a new principal, Steven Beyer, who will be replacing the school\u2019s former head, Richard Sikkel.<\/p>\n<p>Beyer is not new to Brilliant Star, having taught at the school on diverse subjects such as science, math, art, English, music, and robotics. He also coached multiple interscholastic sports. <\/p>\n<p>Before leaving Brilliant Star, Sikkel was the school\u2019s principal since 2010 and a coach of the school\u2019s interscholastic sports teams.<\/p>\n<p>Brilliant Star uses the internationally recognized Montessori curriculum, which focuses on student-driven learning. It offers small class sizes, a teacher\u2019s aide in each classroom, Mandarin language incorporated along with English instruction, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>The school\u2019s demographics range from local Chamorro families, to students of African, Asian, European, and North American ethnicities. <\/p>\n<p>The school is a non-profit organization since January 2000 and is a recipient of many Educational Tax Credit donations.
