Edwin K. Propst\u2019s post about police officers on Facebook.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_306823\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-306823\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Ed-Propst-mug2014-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-306823\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-306823\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Propst<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Precinct 1 representative posted a photo on Facebook late Sunday afternoon with the following caption,\u00a0\u201cIf your crystal meth dealer has all of their teeth, they\u2019re the cops.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The following is the official statement from DPS:<\/p>\n<p>DPS condemns [Propst\u2019s post] associating police officers as drug dealers. This is a blatantly offensive statement that is not only out of line and of low moral character, but it also undermines the hard work by our police officers and our law enforcement officials involved in the fight against drugs in our closely-knit community.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Our officers are on the front lines witnessing the pain and hardship associated with substance abuse. This is not a joke to us and our families, and we should expect more from an elected official.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an elected official, Propst has a moral obligation to provide solutions for our community but, instead, he continues to perpetuate a culture of fear and mistrust of our law enforcement officers, who put their lives on the line every day for the safety and security of our community.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPropst\u2019s social media post is false and unbecoming of an elected official. At a time when we should be coming together to solve the problems and issues of our Commonwealth, the representative\u2019s social media posts have been divisive and unproductive toward the shared goal of bettering our community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was appalled and dismayed upon receiving the news of this offensive post. DPS calls for a public apology from Rep. Propst to our over 260 police officers who serve our community with quiet honor and dignity,\u201d said Public Safety Commissioner Robert A.
